Job Overview
To ensure the proper and efficient hiring of driver team members and independent contractor drivers as needed to support our operations, through the management of the recruiting team. Responsible for daily operational management and development of the Recruiting team. Develops strategy and implements tactical approaches to meet departmental goals. Provides training and coaching as necessary to develop and improve Recruiter performance.

- Determine current staffing needs and schedules work activities appropriately.
- Develops and implements long term workforce planning activities to support the operation of the department.
- Participates in planning and implementation of adverting initiatives sufficient to achieve planned driver hires.
- Communicates and directs activities of key vendors to support recruiting department initiatives.
- Monitor needs for company seated trucks and adjusts tactics and strategy accordingly.
- Plans and conducts recruitment and selection process for Recruiting staff. (Interviews, screening calls etc.).
- Take steps to ensure positive driver candidate experiences.
- Develop and direct processes and team members as needed to recruit and engage Independent contractors within the headcount, geographical and cost requirements of the Company’s Operating Plan.
- Develop capable and effective team members for leadership and individual contributor positions within your areas of responsibility.
- Develops and collaborates with others to develop performance standards. Measures against metrics. Takes corrective actions as appropriate.
- Collaborates with, influences, and serves as a point of contact for the employee engagement teams.
- Recommends and takes responsibility for training and development among staff.
- Ensures the integrity and timeliness of data entered into system by self, staff, and project teams as designated.
- Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
- Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results.
- Able to promote a culture of trust and safety. Explores the market best practices and implements appropriate best practices within the organization; Acts as a single point of contact for other company managers regarding recruitment topics.
What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or like discipline, or equivalent Driver Recruiting experience.
- Ten plus years’ experience in transportation industry and recruiting OTR drivers.
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated proficiency in leading and optimizing an applicant tracking system.
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated ability to manage others and lead processes.
- Minimum 5 years of Background Investigation experience.
- Three years or more experience in managing driver recruiting advertising campaigns.
- Current working knowledge of human resource functions.
- Ability to develop team members through effective coaching skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively plan to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in current ATS, and human resource software systems.
- SUPERVISES OTHERS. This position supervise others and responsible for being results oriented, collaborative, delegate effectively and strive for harmony, ensuring team effectiveness.
- This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required: • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. • Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines. • Occasionally ascend/descend stairs and move up to 20 pounds of office objects. • Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions. • Occasionally attend meetings in buildings outside corporate office and at off-site locations with various internal conditions, and requiring travel in various external conditions.
