    Your tasks

    Job Overview

    Manage various duties within the Land Transportation Department to ensure effective and efficient operation. Establish and manage carrier database, in various markets across the US, to provide truckload transportation to support inbound and outbound operations. Coordinate with Carrier Procurement Manager to insure adequate capacity at acceptable rates.

    What will you enjoy doing (duties/tasks)

    * Communicate directly with carriers to ensure adequate number of trailers are on site for loading and trucks are assigned to loads. * Track loads as necessary to insure on time arrivals. * Assist in the data entry of key data elements during the implementation of any new systems. * Track all documents needed to properly execute and close loads. * Provide service reports as required. * Manage operations to meet or exceed minimum KPI requirements * Analyze carrier pricing and service to support the onboarding of new providers, and the competitiveness of incumbent partners. This includes leadership of RFP's which may be Local, Regional, or National in scope, across multiple modes of transport. * Manage the onboarding of new carriers including contract vetting (with collaboration with Legal), rate organization and distribution, and systems entry. * Oversee the company fleet for profitability, utilization, OSHA, DOT compliance and maintenance of vehicles * Provide direction to the transportation team along with company drivers. * Will hold regular one to ones and periodic reviews to set goals and develop the team to meet company goals as well as personal targets. Deliverables & Achievables: * Support key aspects of the Transportation Operations team including carrier relationship management, transportation cost analysis, carrier service metrics, and departmental KPIs * Analyze performance to the monthly and annual transportation budget, which includes volume and rate variances. Drives countermeasures to substandard cost and service results. Supports the investigation of budget variances and will be responsible for a variety of reporting with will measure the department's performance. * Lead, coordinate and conduct business reviews, soliciting data and feedback from impacted departments. * Develop and / or support cost savings projects within Logistics in collaboration with cross functional teams. * Evaluate overall Transportation industry trends and keep leadership current on potential opportunities and challenges.

    Requirements

    What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. 6 years of related experience, demonstrating advancement in responsibilities. * Strong planning, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work under time pressures * A strong attention to detail * Proficient in the use of various business computer software programs (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.) * Ability to learn and adapt applications * Ability to multitask and work with a sense of urgency. * Ability to work under minimal supervision.
